Mayor-elect Dwight Jones Opens Transition Office in City Hall

Mayor-elect Dwight Jones’ Transition Team announced the opening of a transition office located on the 11th floor of City Hall.

The office provides a central location in City Hall to ensure a smooth transition from the current to the incoming administration.

“With an office and our extended transition team now in place, we are able to continue bringing together the best and brightest individuals to help us move Richmond forward,” David Hicks, chair of the Jones Transition Team, said.  “Mayor Wilder and his administration have provided us with the space we need in City Hall and have been helpful in aiding our effort to run a professional transition.  We look forward to continuing a smooth transition and thank the city staff and administration for their assistance.”

In addition, the Transition Team has brought on administrative staff in order to assist their efforts and handle scheduling and constituent requests.  

Those interested in the transition and the Jones administration – including inviting Mayor-elect Jones to an event, questions regarding the transition effort, suggestions or constituent concerns – can now send correspondences directly to the transition office.  Contact information is provided below.

Dwight Jones Endorsed by Virginia’s Mayors

Today Delegate Dwight Jones (D-Richmond), candidate for Mayor, announced the endorsements of several current and former mayors throughout Virginia.  

Among those who supporting Dwight Jones include Mayors Paul Fraim (City of Norfolk), Molly Ward (Hampton), Bill Euille (Alexandria), and former mayors Senator Henry Marsh (Richmond), Senator Mamie Locke (Hampton), Walter Kenney (Richmond), Rudy McCollum (Richmond), and Roy West (Richmond).  

These endorsement show the confidence from Mayor’s, both past and present and throughout the Commonwealth, that Dwight Jones is the candidate best suited to lead Virginia’s Capital City.  

Norfolk Mayor, Paul Fraim, praised Dwight Jones’ work on behalf of local governments in the General Assembly.

“Throughout his tenure in the Virginia General Assembly, Dwight Jones has been a partner with local government.  He clearly understands the unique challenges and opportunities of urban cities, and I look forward to working with him,”   Mayor Paul Fraim said.

Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille believes Dwight Jones has the experience necessary to lead Richmond and provide a positive vision for change.

“Dwight Jones has the kind of experience that’s needed to bring positive change to our Capital City.  He has been a leader in the Virginia General Assembly, a leader in the Democratic Party, and I look forward to working with him,” said Mayor Bill Euille.  

Receiving the endorsement of some of Virginia’s finest local elected officials going into the final days of the campaign is critical as Richmond chooses its next mayor.
 
“I am delighted to receive the support and confidence of some of Virginia’s finest Mayors, and I am humbled by their support,” Jones said. “When elected, I will seek their counsel in order to build a better Richmond.  Each of these local elected officials have a proven record of improving their cities and I look forward to working with them as their colleague and representing Virginia’s Capital city,” Jones said.
